IMPORTANT PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT UPDATE

Following the government’s announcement on Monday 14 June concerning COVID-19 and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the new Covid variant, which is having a substantial effect on international travel restrictions, we have made the decision to postpone the auditions, due to take place on the 2 – 4 July, along with the performance in Grimsby scheduled for the start of September 2021.

We are currently working with the project leaders in Germany, and our other partners, to find a more suitable and safe date for us to continue with this exciting project.

People, Power, Partnership is a fantastic project for dancers to gain invaluable experience and gain an unforgettable insight into cultural dance influences, as a large part of the project includes travelling overseas to perform alongside the project’s other 13 dance group partners from all over Europe. With the uncertainty of the new Covid variant, and the traffic light system currently in place for overseas travel, our number one priority is the safety and wellbeing of the dancers, and everyone involved in the People Power Partnership project.

As People Power Partnership is such an important project for our area and a fantastic initiative for dancers to be able to showcase their skills on an international stage and kick start their performing career, we want to ensure they receive the best support and opportunities possible.

This includes face to face audition workshops judged in person by the super talented and experienced Pan.Optikum theatre company based in Germany. They will fly over from Germany to run the workshops, offering invaluable advice and support to our auditionees and help us select our chosen candidates. So even if you are not fortunate enough to get selected for this project, there may be opportunities to take part in other projects.

People Power Partnership is starting to take shape with some of our partners across Europe beginning to carry out their year one rehearsals and performances. We have been blown away by the quality of the performers and the work they’ve produced. So, we will be working behind the scenes to keep you up to date with the project journey as it happens, along with the release of key dates and timelines to ensure a fantastic and exciting experience here in the UK, once it is safe to do safe.

Although this announcement is disappointing, we can assure you, People Power Partnership will certainly be worth the wait!
